Cancerversary: September 2001

Age at diagnosis: 32

Diagnosis: Adenocarcinoma in situ

Stage of cancer: No stage specified

How my story begins: I was pregnant with my second child. I had an irregular Pap at a wellness check. We redid the Pap...and I received a cancer diagnosis. They recommended ending the pregnancy and getting a radical hysterectomy.

Life before my diagnosis: I was married with one child who was 2 years old. I was healthy, athletic and always had clear Paps.

How I felt after diagnosis: I was very scared and very sad.

Telling my family and friends: My mom wanted me to have an abortion to save my life. My husband was supportive. My friends were scared for me.

My treatment: I had my baby at 37 weeks, born c-section. A healthy baby girl! At same time, they did a radical hysterectomy though kept my ovaries. My lymph nodes were clear, so no chemo or radiation was needed.

How I felt after treatment: I felt weak, but happy and inspired.

What was most difficult for me: Accepting help from others was difficult for me.

What I did to help myself: To help myself I ate a healthy macrobiotic diet, did massage, reikki, visualization and prayer.

My life after cancer: I've adopted a third child who was born in South Korea!

Where I am today: I own a yoga studio that has a juice bar inside. I encourage healthy movement and healthy eating.

What I want other women to know: Take care of yourself first! Give the world the over flow.

How I will try to help others: I will help with teaching gigs.

Any additional information you'd like to share: Cancer doesn’t have to be the end. It can be the beginning of a better life.
