What We Do | Cervical Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM)

Join Us During Cervical Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM) 2026
Empower the Storytellers. Honoring 21 Years of Impact.
January marks Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, and in 2026, Cervivor is proud to celebrate a powerful milestone: 21 years of survivor-led advocacy, education, and change.
That’s right: we’re legal! And we’re just getting started.
This year’s theme, Empower the Storytellers, honors the voices that have always been at the heart of progress: patients, survivors, and advocates who transformed personal experience into a global movement.
For more than two decades, Cervivor has proven that stories save lives, shape policy, and change outcomes.
Our 2026 Theme: Empower the Storytellers
Before cervical cancer was widely discussed, survivors were told to stay silent.
Before there were headlines, survivor stories were the data.
Empower the Storytellers celebrates the courage it takes to speak up, and the impact those voices have had on patients, public health, and prevention worldwide.
This January, we are:
- Amplifying survivor voices in all forms
- Showing how storytelling fuels healing, education, and advocacy
- Igniting and sustaining the storytellers who carry this work forward
The Reality of Cervical Cancer
Each year, over 600,000 people worldwide are diagnosed with cervical cancer, and hundreds of thousands die—most in low- and middle-income countries where access to screening and treatment remains limited.
Behind every statistic is a real person with a family, and a future interrupted.
Cervical cancer is unique in that it is largely preventable, yet it continues to devastate lives due to misinformation, stigma, and inequitable access to care.
That reality is unacceptable.
Why Storytelling Matters
For 21 years, Cervivor has shown that storytelling:
- Brings medical data to life
- Reduces stigma and shame
- Corrects misinformation about HPV and cervical cancer
- Encourages screening, vaccination, and early detection
- Influences policy, guidelines, and global elimination efforts
We cannot eliminate cervical cancer without the voices of those who have lived it.
What to Expect During CCAM 2026
Throughout January, Cervivor will deliver a robust mix of storytelling, education, and engagement, including:
Survivor-Led Storytelling Challenge
A social media challenge inviting survivors to share their cervical cancer stories in multiple ways throughout the month—building connection, courage, and community.
